Students using their high school diploma or GED to apply for a program must submit either an original copy of their high school diploma or an original copy of their high school transcript. This can be provided to the Admissions department for review. Some programs may require further entrance requirements, like a general skills assessment.
Students may apply to programs using their previous education and obtain some Advanced Standing for prior credits earned at other institutions.
If you have not completed high school, you may be eligible to apply to College as a Mature Student. In Ontario, a Mature student application can be made by someone over 18, has been out of school for more than one year, and has passed a general entrance assessment.
The Second Career program is a government program designed to help unemployed and underemployed workers upgrade their skills and training to find jobs in high-demand sectors in Ontario. The program provides a grant based on need. Applicants to the program may receive different amounts of funding and may need to contribute to their training and education.
Each participant can receive funding to help pay for tuition, travel, books, and a basic living allowance. Additional support may be available to those with disabilities, dependents, or academic upgrading.
